Should you ever lie to your boss?

In the article "Should you ever lie to your boss?" posted by CareerBuilder.ca, the writer talks about telling lies in the workplace, especially to your boss. In most cases, according to the article, a person will lie to his or her boss if the boss is a perfectionist. The article also features five instances about whether telling a lie can benefit the employee, or can lead to a worse situation.

So, if you decide to lie to your boss, make sure you know the consequences of your action.

  1. There's a lot of good points in this story. However, I don't see how lying can be right no matter what. Isn't it better just to be honest and admit it if you're wrong? Seems to me that people will respect you more if you tell the truth even if it doesn't look good.

  2. Yes, lying in any form is generally not good. The only "benefit", I think, is the fact that a person can get away with lying once. Do it the second time or even regularly will cost you not only your job, but also your reputation to your future employers.
